WELCOME TO SOUTH OF ENGLAND INTERNATIONAL HORSE TRIALS

Established in 1976, the South of England is one of the longest running horse trials in the country.  This year we are organising our British Eventing and FEI affiliated Horse Trials along side The Autumn Show on 26th & 27th September 2026. We offer a fantastic event for both competitors and spectators at the South of England Showground with some of the best facilities, including permanent show jumping/dressage rings, pavilions and onsite stabling.

ABOUT OUR ANNUAL EVENT

The South of England  is already a leading  horse trials and an important event in the British Eventing and International calendar. The event has grown in size and popularity since it started 50 years ago. Running classes from International CCI3*-Short  down to grass root BE90,  this event accommodates over 500 competitors over the two days and attracts approximately 18,500 spectators.


The South of England (2) International CCI3*-Short & CCI2*-Short, is held in the Autumn and is affiliated to both the FEI and British Eventing. Attracting some of the top event riders its prestige continues to grow with over ten countries usually being represented. 


Our event utilize some of the best facilities for any horse trials within the United Kingdom with the permanent grass arenas and pavilion overlooking the main Ardingly ring.


The cross country courses extend outside the showground and into neighbouring farmland. The courses are designed by Scott Brickle and his team who were the official course builders for the London Olympics in 2012. 

THE SOUTH OF ENGLAND AUTUMN SHOW & INTERNATIONAL HORSE TRIALS

The Autumn Show and the South of England Horse Trials came together for the first time 2022 putting on one fantastic event that attracted over 18,500 visitors. This is a jam packed and perfect autumnal day out for all ages (and their canine companions). The Autumn Show & Horse Trials features a plethora of countryside sports, displays and ‘have-a-go’ activities all designed to celebrate the joys of countryside and equestrian pursuits.


And as well as experiencing the thrill of watching riders compete in the showjumping, dressage and cross-country phases throughout the weekend. Visitors can try their hand at fly casting, archery, axe throwing and more, while dog lovers can be wowed by the terrier racing, long dog displays, rare breed gundogs, skilled gundog displays and exciting scurries where their dogs can have a go! Children will love the farm animals, falconry, funfair, pony rides and more. Plus, there will be mouth-watering food and drink stalls and superb shopping opportunities.
